Clarence Otis, Darden Restaurants' CEO, told CNBC's "Squawk Box" that he sees a cautious consumer. "I think the level of cautiousness has less to do with the fundamentals, which are not strong, but certainly not as weak as they were three years ago. I think a lot of it has to do with consumers' hopes and fears," he said.
